Annual Report of the Delegacy lxxv of Staff Examiners in Botany He gave lecture at the Phytochemical Society International Symposium held at Canterbury in March 1973 and presented paper at the London meeting of the Society for Experimental Biology He also participated in the thirteenth Inter- national Congress of Cell Biology held at the University of Sussex Dr Hall was elected Chairman of the Academic Committee of the School of Biological Sciences He received £1 000 grant from EMBO towards his expenses in carrying out research on ferredoxins He lectured in the University of Amsterdam Berlin Bochum Paris Gottingen Sussex Tubingen and at Imperial College He presented papers at International meetings in Bochum Moscow Oxford and Strasbourg Dr Κ Symonds was appointed Chairman of the Botany Standard II Examining Committee for the London Sc Dr Keys was appointed to the Botany Standard II Examining Committee for the London Sc She attended the Society for Experi- mental Biology meetings at London and Lancaster Dr Cowan presented two papers to the meeting of the Geneti- cal Society in Leeds Dr Evans gave seminars at Westfield College and the Shell Research Laboratory at Sittingbourne Dr Moore gave demonstration at the British Ecological Society International Symposium on Quaternary Plant Ecology at Cambridge and read paper at the International Peat Congress in Helsinki Dr Cammack presented paper at the International Congress of Biophysics in Moscow Dr Jones presented paper at the Lancaster meeting of the Society for Experimental Biology Dr Κ Rao who has been postdoctoral research fellow in the department since 1969 was appointed to an Honorary Lectureship He attended the International Congress of Biophysics in Moscow Drs Williams Chelsea and Kamalavalli Baroda were appointed as postdoctoral research fellows supported respectively by Science Research Council and Agricultural Research Council funds Dr Telfer attended the international Congress on Photobiology at Bochum It is particularly pleasing to note that the department continues to obtain very generous support from the research councils During the session announcements were made of the award of four grants totalling
