Annual Report of the Delegacy Faculty Notes The imminent entry of Britain into the European Economic Commun- ity has directly engaged the interests of the Faculty as whole and the basic concepts of European Law will begin to be taught as an option in October 1972 The Faculty has taken an active part in the integration of English and European Law by receiving foreign academics in the Faculty and by making lecture visits to the Continent In October 1971 Professor Dillemans from Leuven University gave seminars in the Faculty as Visiting Belgian Professor and in March 1972 Professor Leleux from Louvain also gave lectures to law students Also in the spring Professor Dalcq brought group of Belgian students and Monsieur Jacot-Guillarmod from Lausanne University brought party of Swiss students who were addressed on the Common Law by several members of the staff during the Easter recess Another group of French and German lawyers came to the Faculty for year as holders of British Council scholarships to study English law under the Director- ship of Professor Chloros It is gratifying to note that in the examination held in the spring the candidates from the Laws Faculty far exceeded those from other Departments in their percentage of Credits and there were no failures Professor Chloros Dean of the Faculty gave lectures on English and Comparative Law at the University of Paris and also at the Universities of Hamburg Kiel and the Free University of Berlin While in Berlin he also lectured on European Law to the Anglo-German Lawyers' Association In July he represented the Committee of Vice- Chancellors and Principals at the 2nd meeting of the preparatory Committee of the to set up the European Institute in Florence which was held in Brussels In September he visited Yugoslavia at the official invitation of the Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade and lectured at Belgrade Zagreb and also Budapest In July he attended the Ford Foundation Seminar held in London under the Chairmanship of Professor Graveson on Comparative Law where he spoke on the use of legal materials in the teaching of Comparative Law He also attended the British Council Law Committee under the Chairmanship of Lord Diplock and the Joint Committee of the the Inns of Court and the Law Society Professor Chloros is also the British representative on the Fundamental Legal Concepts Sub-Committee of the Council of Europe and as such attended
