lii Annual Report ofthe Delegacy Professor Pugh and Professor Morgan were External Examiners to the University of Wales Professor Pugh also examined in Nautical Studies at the Liverpool Polytechnic Professor Morgan and Mr Lawrence were respectively Chairman and Deputy Chairman of London University Examining Boards under Revised Regulations Dr Embleton was External Examiner to the Queen's University Belfast and also Modera- tor in Geography at the Lanchester Polytechnic Coventry Under- graduate field classes were held at Keele Swansea Arran Newcastle and the West Midlands and five field classes were based at Rogate The East African Rainfall Project continued throughout the session and major report in addition to smaller bulletins was presented to the Roads Research Laboratory and to the East African Meteorological Service The Natural Environment Research Council awarded grant to accelerate the analysis of field data from the Second Land Utilisation Survey Miss Coleman made good progress with the Vegetation Atlas of England and Wales Staff members gave many lectures outside the College Miss Coleman addressed the Forestry Section of the British Association the Annual Conference of the Geographical Association as well as several branch meetings and the Cartographic Society in London and in Southamp- ton She also gave course on Conservation and Ecology for Extra- mural diploma students Dr Rose also gave an Extra-mural course on Epiphytes as well as seminar to postgraduate students lectures in course on 'The Uninhabitable World' at Ripon for the West Riding County Council two lectures at the International Mycological Conference at Exeter on 'Lichen distribution' and 'Lichen in relation to air pollution' and lecture on 'Floristic connections between England and France' at the Joint International Conference sponsored by the Botanical Society of the British Isles and the Linnean Society of London in Manchester Dr Brunsden gave guest lecture on 'The application of systems theory to the study of landslides' to the Conference on Natural Slopes Stability and Conserva- tion organised by the Universities of Naples and Calabria he also addressed the Institute of Civil Engineers on 'The role of geomorphol- ogy in site investigation' lectured to branches of the Geographical Association in London Bristol and Worcester was Visiting Lecturer at the University of Sussex conducted Extra-mural lectures and participated in an refresher course for geography teachers Dr Embleton gave lectures at the Universities of Cambridge and Man- chester and addressed branches of the Geographical Association at
