1 Annual Report of the Delegacy Professor Martin was appointed to the Council of the Institute for the Study of Conflict He acted as Consultant to the Atomic Energy Commission July August 1972 on the establishment of an international research centre He contributed to the Stanford Research Institute's Study of NATO force levels for the Army delivered paper on 'The Nixon Doctrine and Europe' to the Stanford Research Institute and University of Pennsylvania's Conference in Virginia in February 1972 and contributed paper to the Conference on the Western Mediterranean in Mallorca in September He lectured to the National Defence College the Royal College of Defence Studies the University of California's Scientific Laboratory at Los Alamos the NATO Defence College in Rome to the 139th Wilton Park Confer- ence and to the Combined Services Staff Colleges at The Army Staff College Camberley Dr Mendl was appointed Reader in War studies from October 1st 1971 From July 21st 1971 to January 7th 1972 he under- took research in Japan on Contemporary Japanese Policy towards China under the auspices of the Royal Institute of International Affairs with financial support from the Social Science Research Council He delivered number of lectures and papers in Japan and in the United States He lectured to the Royal Military College of Science at Shriven- ham to the Lieutenants' Course at the Royal Naval College Green- wich to Private Discussion Meeting at Chatham House to the Summer School of the Science and to Army Staff Promotion Courses at Exeter and Bristol Mr Bond was appointed member of the Council of the Royal United Services Institute for Defence Studies and Visiting Professor in Military History and Strategic Studies at the University of Western Ontario from July 1st 1972 to June 30th 1973 He lectured on 'The British Army and the Continent 1933-40' at the University of Kent at Canterbury Dr Dockrill was appointed Secretary to the Board of War Studies Mr Paskins attended 'Consultation' at St George's House Windsor Castle on moral education in Staff Colleges and the annual international meeting of the Conference on Christian Approaches to Defence and Disarmament at Ayr Joint Seminars with the National Defence College Latimer were held for the first time
