Annual Report of the Delegacy xxxvii present academic period Two Postdoctoral Fellowships were set up at the Centre and were financed by the Esme Fairbairn Trust The accommodation fee for visitors has remained the same although this is to be reviewed in the light of the economic spiral It is hoped that costs won't increase more than absolutely necessary There has been series of seminars held at the Centre organised by the resident research workers These have been attended by visitors from King's as well as from other colleges and universities In March symposium of more general nature is planned and it is hoped that local landowners and residents will attend Cordial relationships with the local landowners and farmers have been maintained and this has been great help to both research and teaching aspects of Rogate In retrospect it has been very active year and the indications are that the coming year will be just as busy Finance The total of grants received from the Court of the University amounted to £2 728 664 compared with £2 336 077 last year and also separate earmarked grant of £229 900 was received for the pur- chase of equipment while the Computer Board contributed £43 066 Fee income was £230 925 compared with £211 849 last year an increase of £19 076 Government departments various foundations and private firms continued to support research projects and contributed £239 562 The expenses of the academic departments at £2 323 590 showed large increase of £274 983 and reflects the cost of implementing salary revisions in October 1971 and the ever-increasing inflation problem Maintenance of premises showed an increase of £124 954 and in- eludes the cost of maintaining Stage for full year and increased insurance covers for all College properties Halliday Hall which completed one year as women's hall of residence resulted in deficit of £3 237 and the total income for the year was £40 521 King's College Hall showed deficit of £3 365 and the total income for the year was £131 112 During the year Capital Grants totalling £374 970 were made available to the College by the University Grants Committee through the Court of the University The Refectories showed deficit of £8 642 compared with £11 904 the previous year
