xxxvi Annual Report of the Delegacy film in the study and teaching of twentieth-century history at the Imperial War Museum also in July Committee on Library Resources 22 Had the Library Committee not been preoccupied with the problems arising from the reorganisation of the Library its most important task during the session would certainly have been its consid- eration of the Report of the Committee on Library Resources which was presented to the Senate in December and thereafter referred to the schools of the University by the Collegiate Council With the help of an ad hoc sub-committee appointed to examine the Report in detail the Library Committee drafted statement of views which was subse- quently elaborated as to the financial implications and identification of priorities by the Professorial Board before submission to the Collegiate Council The College welcomed the Report and particularly the proposal to set up Libraries Council to encourage the rationalisation of the library resources of the University and gave unqualified support to most of the recommendations many of which reflected the policies and practices already adopted at King's It was felt necessary however to draw attention to the difficulties envisaged in implementing the proposals in the bleak financial outlook in the new quinquennium and in particular to the fact that while library expenditure equivalent to per cent of total expenditure might be desirable in ideal terms it could not be identified from where in the College even the relatively small sums could be found which would be required to raise the pro- portion of expenditure on the Library at King's from that of y6 per cent recorded in 1968-69 to per cent or more during 1972-77 ROGATE FIELD CENTRE Report by the Warden The number of visitors to the Centre has been maintained over the last year although one or two of our regular visitors have unfortunately had to cancel because of lack of financial support The measures taken to encourage people to use the quieter winter period have been successful and this has been augmented by the transfer of lecture room from one of the College halls The winter visitors have been of non-scientific nature such as historians and philosophers who find the Centre an ideal setting for weekend symposia The number of postgraduate workers has remained the same throughout the year but is expected to drop slightly at the end of the
