UNIVERSITY OF LONDON KING'S COLLEGE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DELEGACY FOR THE SESSION 1971-72 Presented to the Court and Senate of the University of London ROYAL VISIT The College was honoured on June 27th 1972 by the visit of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on the occasion of the opening of the New Strand Building The ceremony took place in the New Lecture Theatre to which representatives of all groups of the College were invited and was followed by tour of the New Building and visits to the Departments of Chemistry Philosophy and the Library Following the tour Her Majesty and His Royal Highness returned to the Principal's Study and the Council Room where various groups representing all sections of the College were presented The visit was happy and memorable occasion for the College and Her Majesty and His Royal Highness subsequently expressed their pleasure with the visit and with the opportunity of talking to many of the staff and students of the College plaque in the Entrance Hall of the Strand Building commemorates the occasion II MEMBERSHIP OF THE DELEGACY The following new appointments to the Delegacy for the year begin- ning March 1st 1972 were made by the Senate Mr Fairbairn elected to fill vacancy Professor Winch nominated by the Professorial Board in place of Professor Jones who retired in rotation Dr France and Dr White nominated by the non- professorial staff Mr Banfield Mr Brough and Miss Mac- leanan nominated by the student body xix
