Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes 203 FAITHFULL PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1964 from funds made available under the will of Professor Edith Morley former student of the College and member of the Staff and Fellow of King's College for Women She held the Chair of Enghsh at the University of Reading from 1908 to 1940 Miss Faithfull was Vice-Principal of King's College London Ladies' Department from 1894 to 1907 and later became Headmistress of Cheltenham Ladies' College She helped in the foundation of Queen Elizabeth College formerly King's College of Household and Social Science and was made Fellow of King's College in 1904 She was the first President of the All-England Women's Hockey Association The Prize consists of books to the value of £5 The Prize is open to full-time students in the Department of English It will be awarded annually to the student who in the opinion of the Head of the Department of English shall have most distinguished himself in modern literary subjects in the Honours examination held at the end of the Final year of study ROTHERY PRIZES IN FRENCH AND GERMAN These prizes were founded in 1970 by the Trustees of the late Gunson Rothery student of the College from 1913 to 1916 ROTHERY FRENCH PRIZE The prize consists of monetary award to the value of £20 The prize is open to full-time students in the Department of French The prize will be awarded annually on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of French to the student who reaches the highest general standard in the examination ROTHERY GERMAN PRIZE The prize consists of monetary award to the value of £20 The prize is open to full-time students in the Department of German The prize will awarded annually on the recommendation of the Head of the Department of German to the student who achieves the best performance in the examination HANDFORD CLASSICAL PRIZES AND BOOK GRANTS The Prizes were established in 1972 by Mr Handford formerly Reader in Classics
