202 Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes The Prize will be awarded annually after examination The examination will be written and practical The paper or papers will include questions requiring knowledge of the history and theory of Palaeography with the elements of Diplomatic The regulations governing the award of the Prize may be modified from time to time by the Governing Body for the time being of University of London King's College with the concurrence of the Council of the Royal Historical Society Entries should reach the Registrar by October 1st The examination will be held in October ELIZABETH LEVETT MEMORIAL PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1939 from funds contributed by the colleagues and friends of Elizabeth Levett who was Tutor to Women Students and Lecturer in History at King's College from 1923 to 1928 and afterwards Professor of History at Westfield College The Prize is of the value of about Ā£20 and is awarded biennially The Prize is open to all women full-time students of the College who have completed the course for an honours degree in History in the University of London or have been registered as research students in the Department of History at King's College for not less than one academic year The Prize will be awarded for an essay on any subject in Medieval History preference being given to work in Medieval Economic History The essay should embody the results of original research and should not exceed ten thousand words in length The Prize will next be offered in July 1975 and thereafter in July in alternate years Candidates should submit the subjects of their essays to the Principal for approval before October 31st in the year preceding that in which they intend to compete and should send their essays to the Registrar before 31st May If in any year in which the Prize is offered no award is made the interest thus accumulated may at the discretion of the Principal be added to the capital of the fund or may be applied to any of the following purposes to increase the value of the Prize or to provide second Prize to deserving candidate in subsequent year to provide assistance for the publication of any work on Medieval History submitted by former holder of the Prize To encourage research in Medieval History at King's College by any other means consistent with the conditions laid down in Clause If assistance is given for the publication of any original work such published work shall contain an acknowledgment that the work has been assisted from the Elizabeth Levett Fund of King's College London
