Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes 199 The Prize is open to all full-time students of the College who have com- pleted one term and not exceeded nine terms The Prize will be awarded annually for an exercise in English original verse upon prescribed subject The exercise must not fall short of 42 nor exceed 150 lines and must be typewritten and distinguished by some motto The candidate should send his exercise to the Registrar before May 31st at the same time sending his name and motto under sealed cover in an envelope bearing the motto Subject for 1974 poem entitled either 'Building Site' or 'Returning Visit' WILLIAM STEBBING PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1927 under the will of William Stebbing The Prize consists of books to the value of Ā£25 The Prize is open to all full-time students of the College who have completed two terms as day students or four terms as evening students and have not exceeded nine terms The Prize will be awarded annually for an exercise in English verse or prose upon prescribed subject The exercise must be typewritten and distin- guished by some motto The candidate should send his exercise to the Registrar before May 31st at the same time sending his name and motto under sealed cover in an envelope bearing the motto Subject for 1974 An essay either in verse or prose humorous or serious on University charac- ter student or teacher STEPHEN PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1840 by Sir George Stephen The Prize consists of books to the value of jQ5'2 The Prize is open to all full-time students of the College who have com- pleted one term and not exceeded nine terms The Prize will be awarded annually for an English essay upon prescribed subject The exercise must be typewritten and distinguished by some motto The candidate should send his exercise to the Registrar before May 31st at the same time sending his name and motto under sealed cover in an envelope bearing the motto Subject for 1974 An essay entitled 'Productivity' or 'Britain and Europe
