Faculties and Courses of Study 137 for all courses in the Science Faculty students are required to have Mathematics at least at Ordinary level and an adequate command of English sc degree courses specialising in one subject For entry to the following specialist courses candidates will normally be required to have passed at Advanced Level in General Certificate of Education examination or an examination of equivalent standard in the subjects indicated below Mathematics Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics or other approved options Physics Physics or Physical Science and one of Pure Mathematics Mathematics Pure and Applied Further Mathematics or one of the examinations in Modern Mathematics Chemistry Chemistry or Physical Science and Physics or Mathematics and preferably one other subject Physics at least to Ordinary level is required Geology Any two or preferably three science subjects Geography Geography and any one or preferably two other science subjects Preference will be given to candidates having pass in Mathematics at least at Ordinary level Biochemistry Cell Biology Botany Pharmacology Physiology Zoology Chemistry or Physical Science and two from Biology Botany Zoology Physics Mathematics Pure Mathematics Applied or Mathematics Pure and Applied Biology may not be offered with either Botany or Zoology nor Mathematics Pure and Applied with Mathematics Pure or Mathematics Applied For Biochemistry at least Ordinary level Physics is required for Pharmacology Physics and Biological subject to at least Ordinary level are required sc degree courses in two main subjects jOINT honours Chemistry and Biology 'A' level Chemistry pass and one or prefer- ably two other 'A' level passes Chemistry and Geology 'A' level Chemistry pass and two other 'A' level passes including preferably Mathematics Chemistry and Mathematics 'A' level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics
