lx Annual Report of the Delegacy English law Professor Chloros acted as Director of the course and several members of the staff gave seminars As in the past the activities outside the College of members of the staff have ranged over wide field Professor Graveson represented the United Kingdom on the Council of Europe Committee of Specia- lists on Comparative law Professor Kiralfy gave four lectures on Soviet Law and Legal Theory at the University of Birmingham He also participated in the Council of Europe second symposium on East European law held in Strasbourg in July 1971 He translated chapter by Professor Reczei from the Hungarian on the Comparative Private International Law of Succession for the International Encyclo- paedia of Comparative Law Professor Chloros was appointed member of the Council of Europe's organising committee for the second conference of law faculties which took place in Strasbourg in April 1971 He attended the conference as leader of the British delegation and as rapporteur for the panel on The adaptation of legal studies to the needs of contemporary society' He was also member of the organising committee of the Council of Europe's second symposium on East European law to which he was elected part-Chairman The Council of Europe also appointed him member of its Scholarships Committee In the course of the year he gave lectures in the Faculties of Law in the Universities of Paris and II in University College Dublin and in the University of Leuven Belgium and he visited the Brussels Institute of Comparative Law In September 1971 he was an official guest at the Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade and gave lecture at the University of Belgrade on 'Law Reform' He also gave talks to St Paul's Girls' School and to the Lycee Fran9ais de Londres Professor Guest was the representative at the working groups of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law in Geneva and New York in January and August 1971 In September 1971 Professor Maudsley gave lectures in the United States at the Universities of Cornell and Baltimore He was Visiting Professor at the University of San Diego Law School California from September to December 1970 He also acted as visiting examiner at Ahmadu Bello University and at the Universities of Lagos and Ife Nigeria Professor Sir Francis Vallat organised series often public lectures on Human Rights which were given at King's College in the Michaelmas term He was re-appointed member of the Advisory Group on
