Annual Report of the Delegacy xxxv The Library mounted an exhibition of Bibles on the occasion of the King's College London Association reception on May 14th 1971 and maintained an exhibition case in the General Library throughout the session Co-operation The demand for inter-library loans increased further during the session 076 requests being received from readers total of 880 items were borrowed from other libraries 029 being from the National Lending Library for Science and Technology 558 direct from academic libraries and 81 direct from other libraries in the United Kingdom and 232 from or through the National Central Library 60 of these being from libraries abroad The 196 unsatisfied requests represented 64 per cent of the total requests received The College Library was called upon to lend total of 402 items to other libraries 251 being to academic libraries and 142 to other libraries in the United Kingdom and to libraries abroad The Library co-operated with the Library Management Research Unit at Cambridge University Library in carrying out survey of its acquisitions procedures on behalf of the University of London Com- mittee on Library Resources Centre for Military Archives The Centre for Military Archives con- tinued to attract important accessions During the year further papers belonging to General Sir Ian Hamilton and General Lord Ismay were deposited and Brigadier Sir Bernard Fergusson deposited Field Marshal Earl Wavell's Staff College papers General Sir Frank Messervy gave his military papers and the agreement was completed for the deposit of Field Marshal Viscount Alanbrooke's papers Twenty-two persons were reported to the Trustees as having been admitted to read papers in the Centre and photocopies of particular papers were supplied to four readers as well as to Lady Liddell Hart for the Liddell Hart archive Permission was given for the publication of two manuscripts in which use had been made of papers in the Centre College Archives The Library Committee welcomed proposal for the proper habilitation and subsequent administration of the College archives and approved in principle the recognition as College archivist of Mr Harvey the Senior Assistant Librarian to whom in practice all enquiries received by the College requiring research in the archives had in recent years been referred The proposal was prompted by memorandum emanating from the University's Committee on Library Resources which led to the appointment by the Collegiate Council
