Annual Report of the Council xiii Faculty of Music Barry Prize No award 1st Leathes Prize No award 2nd Leathes Prize Mr Moroney Faculty of Natural Science Barry Prize No award 1st Leathes Prize Miss Evans 2nd Leathes Prize Miss Κ Baker FINANCE Income and Expenditure Account The income from fees amounted to £16 570 The Grant from the Church Commissioners remained at £18 000 Expenditure on teaching staff rose by £2 790 due to revision of salary scales which became effective from October 1st 1970 Admini- strative salaries also showed slight increase of £220 again due to an increase in scales from August 1st 1970 Departmental expenses amounted to £5 080 which was £415 less than last year With income at £41 138 and expenditure at £45 161 the year's working showed deficit of £4 023 Corporation General Fund Account Income was received from the usual sources and after meeting expenses the account showed surplus of £3 425 which has been transferred to the General Fund Income and Expenditure Account King's College at St Augustine's College Canterbury Total income amounted to £32 038 which included an amount of £2 117 received from Special Lettings Expenditure was £39 416 which resulted in deficit on the year's working of £7 378 King's College Hostel Total income amounted to £19 249 which included £3 806 received from Special Lettings Expenditure amounted to £19 810 which resulted in deficit on the year's working of £561 compared with surplus in 1969-70 of £1 386
