iv Annual Report of the Council Council heard with satisfaction of the conferment on Dr Parrinder of the title of Professor of the Comparative Study of Reli- gions and of the election of the Reverend Owen to the Chair of Christian Doctrine in succession to Professor Maurice Wiles The Council expressed its congratulations to the Reverend Professor Mascall on his appointment as Gifford Lecturer in the University of Edinburgh and noted with pleasure the award of the ph to the Sub-Warden at Vincent Square the Reverend Horne and the appointment of the Reverend Hickling as Deputy Priest in Ordinary to Her Majesty The Queen On the retirement of the Reverend Gerald Hart from the College living of Westmill in the diocese of St Albans the Council pre- sented the living to the Reverend Canon Walsh Rector of Welwyn The staff of the Theological Department elected Miss Marshall litt to be member of the Council in place of the Reverend Dr Horne whose term of office had expired The Council nominated as student members of the Theological Committee for 1971-72 Mr Hendry and Mr Thorp The Council expressed its thanks to the Reverend Bryant and the Reverend Barker for their services to St Augustine's College Canterbury and appointed as Tutor the Reverend Kenneth Leech On December 3rd 1970 members of the Council met with the three members of the Archbishops' Commission on the Theological Colleges The Council heard subsequently that the commissioners had decided to withdraw their original recommendation that the pre- ordination course at St Augustine's College Canterbury should be closed memorandum on the past present and future of King's College was prepared for presentation to the House of Bishops The Council received with pleasure the news of the granting of Charter to Heythrop College as non-grant receiving School of Divinity in the University of London staff The Reverend Huw Parri Owen Reader in the History and Philosophy of Religion was appointed to the Chair of Christian Doctrine made
