lxxxii Annual Report of the Delegacy Dr Morna Hooker read seminar paper to the annual conference of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas Mr Hickling lectured for the Extra-Mural Department and to Wells Theological College department of old testament studies The Reverend Professor Ackroyd gave the Selwyn Lectures entitled 'The Age of the Chronicler' in July in Auckland Dunedin and Christchurch and spoke on the same subject at the Theological Colloquium at Auckland the Conference of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Theological Studies in Melbourne and the School of Theology at St Andrews College Sydney He lectured in other centres including the Universities of Auckland Waikato Hamilton Canterbury and Otago in New Zealand Melbourne Sydney New- castle Canberra Adelaide and Perth in Australia He visited Ceylon to lecture at Kandy and India where he lectured at Bangalore and other centres he read paper to the India Society for Biblical Studies in Jabalpur In February he lectured to the Stockwell College of Education Professor Clarke of Toronto visited the Department in April and conducted seminar Mr Knibb read paper entitled 'The Ethiopic Text of Enoch Reconsidered' to the Society for Old Testament Studies in Birming- ham Ill PUBLIC LECTURES Michaelmas term 1969 Public Lectures during the term were as follows English 'Solitude and community in Wordsworth's poetry' an inaugural lecture in the Chair of English Language and Literature by Professor Roger Sharrock Theology 'The present task of Theology' Special University Lecture by Professor Helmut Thielicke 'The research for the Jesus of history' Special University Lecture by Professor Eduard Lohse Powder Technology 'Recent developments in the theory and practice of the mixing of granular materials' by Dr Η Valentin 'Recent developments in electrostatic precipitators and electrostatic precipita- tion' by Mr Darby 'Recent developments in the automatic control of mineral processing plant' by Mr Joy Geology 'Sediments-past present and future' an inaugural lecture in the Chair of Geology by Professor Prentice
