Annual Report of the Delegacy li Group Dr Embleton addressed the Royal Geographical Society and gave course of lectures in the University of Cambridge Several members of staff addressed branches of the Geographical Association Dr Yates was invited to the University of Moscow Dr Embleton attended the Glaciological Society Field Conference in Iceland Mr Lawrence visited number of university departments in Australia and New Zealand Miss Coleman helped to organise and lead trans- Canada summer school for British teachers on behalf of the Geo- graphical Association Dr Yates and Dr Embleton served on the Council of the Institute of British Geographers Dr Brunsden served on the Council and Executive Committee of the Geographical Association and on the Executive Committee of the British Geomorphological Research Group he was also co-opted on to the Executive Committee of the Engineering Geology Group of the Geological Society of London assisted by Mr Morgan he organised the annual conference of the Geo- graphical Association Work continued on the analysis of results obtained by the Joint School team investigating recreational use of the Dartmoor National Park The contract with the Roads Research Laboratory for the East African Rainfall Project was renewed for further three years in future it will be necessary for research staff from the department to spend six months of the year in East Africa to supervise local staff on the gauge networks during the wetter part of the year The Second Land Utilisation Survey received grant from the Nuffield Research Foundation to continue research on the spatial analysis of land use problems and Miss Coleman also was awarded grant from the 20th International Geographical Congress Fund established by the Royal Society in 1966 for work on land use map analysis by computer The Fund also made grant to Mr Matthews towards the costs of the Jotunheim Research Expedition 1970 FACULTY OF EDUCATION Numbers of Students Graduate Certificate in Education 106 Academic Diploma in Education by Examination Ph Occasional
