Annual Report of the Delegacy xxi connections with the schools of the country ever since and has re- mained in touch by her membership of schools' committees and by examining Her first university teaching post was at Bedford College after which she moved to Queen Mary College where she acted as Head of Department during the years of the Second World War and taught the whole range of the German Honours syllabus Since coming to King's in 1953 as Reader in Modern German Literature she has been able to specialise in her own chosen field particularly the late nineteenth century in which field she has established an international reputation for herself Her experience as scholar and an administrator has been of great value to two Heads of Department here To their appreciation of her services the Delegacy would add their very best thanks and wishes for many years of happy retirement Professor Graham Professor Graham was appointed Rhodes Professor of Imperial History at King's College in 1949 and retires under the age limit in September 1970 universally regretted by his colleagues at the College and in the wider field of the University of London distinguished scholar himself his publications have brought lustre to Chair which had had two distinguished predecessors Professor Graham has moved with the age and his concept of his Chair is understandably different from that which inspired its first holder Professor Newton in 1919 This is characteristic of the man He has in spite of illness preserved his youthful outlook and as colleague and conversationalist he will be constantly missed Canadian by birth he has done much through his writings and even more through his personality to promote understanding between the New World and the Old and on his departure the Delegacy wish to thank him most warmly for his services and to wish him many years of continued activity in retirement Professor Greig James Greig was appointed in 1945 to the Chair of Electrical Engineering and during the last twenty-five years has done much to further the reputation of small but select department His own professional standing has attracted team of research workers many of them from abroad whose interests and careers he has guided and fostered Professor Greig has also served and represented the College in wider fields of university development taking part in schemes for engineer-
