UNIVERSITY OF LONDON KING'S COLLEGE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DELEGACY FOR THE SESSION 1969-70 Presented to the Court and the Senate of the University of London GENERAL REPORT MEMBERSHIP OF THE DELEGACY The Delegacy received with great regret the resignation as from December 31st 1969 of the Honourable Sir Arthur Howard from the Chairmanship of the Delegacy Sir Arthur was ap- pointed to the Delegacy in 1938 served on the Finance Committee from 1938 to 1947 and succeeded Sir Ralph Wedgwood as Chairman in 1950 The Delegacy paid warm tribute to Sir Arthur's long and devoted service as Chairman and expressed satisfaction that his con- tinued association with the College was assured by his holding both Life Governorship and Fellowship of King's College The resignation as from August 31st 1970 of Sir Angus Gillan as Treasurer of the Delegacy was also received with great regret Sir Angus joined the Delegacy in 1951 was elected Deputy Treasurer in 1952 Vice-Chairman in 1953 and finally Trea- surer in 1955 The Delegacy warmly endorsed the Chairman's tribute to Sir Angus's distinguished service and were happy to note that he would continue to serve as Vice-Chairman and as member of the Finance Committee The following new appointments to the Delegacy for the year beginning March 1st 1970 were made by the Senate Sir Richard Way Professor Arthur nominated by the Professorial Board in place of Professor Price who retired in rotation In June 1970 the following three student members of the Delegacy were elected Mr Geldard Mr Little and Mr Titchen During the session when student membership was under discussion Miss Atkinson-Scott and Mr Vanstone continued to attend meetings and the current President of the Union Society was invited to attend as an observer xix
