160 Library Facilities Moira Robinson Elisabeth Rubens Berry Susan Wright Elizabeth Faunch Dick Satwinder Plahi Three to be appointed The College Library comprises some 300 000 volumes in all subjects taught in the College and is particularly strong in those subjects such as Ecclesiastical History Imperial History Modern Greek Portuguese and Brazilian literature and history Spanish including Latin- American Literature Theology and War Studies for the teaching of which King's College has special responsibility within the University The Library is organised in subject libraries corresponding to par- ticular academic disciplines These subject libraries with the very few exceptions noted below are concentrated in two main Library areas the New Library in the recently completed building on the Strand and the Old Library in the original main building The main catalogues other than the science subject catalogue together with bibliographical and other reference works and small collection of books in extra-curricular subjects are to be found in room 101 of the New Library where general enquiries concerning the Library should be made Hours of Opening The Library is open in term from 30 until 45 on Mondays to Fridays and until 12 45 on Saturdays During the Christmas and Easter vacations it is open from 30 until 45 on Mon- days to Fridays and until 12 noon on Saturdays during the long vacation it is open from 30 until 30 on Mondays to Fridays but remains closed on Saturdays The hours of opening of the outlying subject libraries vary and as rule they are closed to readers in vacation The Library is closed on public holidays and at such other times as the College buildings are closed The Old Library and Engineering Library close at 15 on certain days usually Fridays when social functions are held in the main building
