Faculties and Courses of Study 13 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Before admission to College candidates must satisfy the University's general requirements as well as the following course requirements for all courses in the Science Faculty students are required to have Mathematics at least at Ordinary level and an adequate command of English sc degree courses specialising in one subject For entry to the following specialist courses candidates will normally be required to have passed at Advanced Level in General Certificate of Education examination or an examination of equivalent standard in the subjects indicated below Mathematics Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics and another science subject preferably Physics or Physical Science Candidates selected for interview will be given an oral test Physics Physics or Physical Science and in one of Pure Mathematics Mathematics Pure and Applied Mathematics for Science or one of the examinations in Modern Mathematics It is necessary to have pass in Chemistry to at least Ordinary level Chemistry Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics and one other subject Those having Pure Mathematics only are advised that some knowledge of Applied Mathematics in particular of Dynamics is necessary to extract full benefit from the courses provided Physics at least to Ordinary level is required Geology Any two science subjects or preferably three included in the list for entry to the joint honours degree of Sc Geography Geography and any one or preferably two other science subject included in the list for entry to the joint honours degree of Sc Biochemistry Cell Biology Botany Pharmacology Physiology Zoology Chemistry and two from Biology Botany Zoology Physics Mathematics Pure Mathematics Applied or Mathematics Pure and Applied Biology may not be offered with either Botany or Zoology nor Mathematics Pure and Applied with Mathematics Pure or Mathematics Applied For Biochemistry at least Ordinary level physics is required for Pharmacology Physics and Biological subject to at least Ordinary level are required
