General Information 91 11 Disposal of the Case The Hearing Committee and in the case of an appeal the Appellate Committee is responsible for finding whether the charge against student is proved and also if they so find for deciding what measures should be taken in respect of it Decisions shall be taken by majority In case of tie the Chairman shall have casting vote Decisions shall be announced by the Chairman The Hearing Committee and the Appellate Committee may order any one or more of the following measures Warning Reprimand Temporary suspension for stated period Such suspension shall not be ordered so as to interfere with student's ability to take an examination unless the suspension renders him ineligible on the grounds of incomplete residence Expulsion Fine of sum not in excess of Ā£25 all of which shall be paid to charity not being King's College Payment of compensation for damages The Committee may order that such measures shall immediately take effect or that they shall come into effect at stated future time or on the happening of stated future event the commission of further offence In deciding upon the order to be made the Committee shall select the measures which in their opinion are the most appropriate for the furthering of the interests and objectives of King's College 12 Emergency Powers The Principal or the Dean may in his discretion suspend temporarily any student where it is in his opinion necessary in the interests of the College that this should be done Any student so suspended shall be charged without delay and the matter shall be determined in accordance with the procedure herein contained When deciding upon the order to be made the Hearing Committee shall take into consideration any period of suspension which has already taken effect 13 Interpretation Reference herein to the Principal or the Dean shall include persons who are authorised to act as deputies to these officers Hearing Committee Procedure Except where otherwise stated or where the Hearing Committee in their discretion and in the belief that the interests of justice will thereby be served so decide the rules of procedure for trial on indictment in an English Court of Law shall apply For the purpose of the hearing decision by the Hearing Committee on
