Annual Report of the Delegacy lxxvii Chemical Society's international symposium on Isotope Effects held at York He also gave lectures at Cornell University the Belfer Grad- uate School of Yeshiva University New York and the Brookhaven National Laboratory He visited Greece as guest of the Greek Atomic Energy Commission and gave lecture at the 'Democritos' Nuclear Research Centre Athens Dr Robertson gave lectures at the Universities of Binning- ham Sheffield Hull Manchester Kent Edinburgh and at Bath Uni- versity of Technology He also lectured at Imperial College Bedford College Chelsea College Queen Elizabeth College Royal Holloway College Northern Polytechnic Lanchester College of Technology Coventry Sir John Cass College Harrow Technical College and School of Art and to the Nicholas Scientific Society Slough He was elected an Associate Member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Commission on Nomenclature of Analytical Chemistry and member of the Analytical Chemistry Sub- committee of the British National Committee for Chemistry Dr Stirling gave one of the plenary lectures at the Cork International Symposium on Structure and Mechanism in sulphur chemistry He also gave lectures at Queen Mary College University College Cardiff and at the University of Paris Dr Davies lectured at Bedford College and has been appointed Liaison Officer for the Chemical Society at King's College Dr Perkins has contributed papers at meetings of the Chemical Society held in Keele Nottingham and London Dr Hall spent six months at Rutgers University New Jersey Dr Robinson with Levison and Dr Emsley with Udy read papers at the Joint Meeting of the Chemical Society and the Royal Institute of Chemistry held at Nottingham Dr Robin- son with Levison also contributed paper at Symposium of the Chemical Society held at Sheffield The following awards have been made by the Science Research Council To Professor Gold £6 089 radiation-induced and radiomimetic reactions and £4 227 for the study of catalysis of aro- matic hydrogen-exchange reactions by group VIII metals to Dr Perkins £13 650 for work on electron-spin-resonance spectroscopy with particular reference to reactive organic species and to Dr Robinson £3 421 for work on the spectra of transition metal hydrides Two research awards have been made by the Ministry of Defence to
