lxii Annual Report of the Delegacy The pressure of numbers continued unabated and regrettably not more than about per cent of undergraduate applications could be accommodated Since the foundation of the College when Park as one of its original professors lectured on English land law the Faculty has been noted for its interest in the law of property and conveyancing Thanks to the generosity of the Nineveh Trust it was possible during the session to institute for five years in the first instance new post of Director of Conveyancing Studies Dr Mellows whose activities in this field were mentioned in previous Annual Report was appointed to this new post in addition to his existing lectureship For almost two decades the policy of the Faculty has been to estab- lish and develop links both nationally and internationally with the practical application of subjects within the expanding purview of the Faculty In the present session for example three members of the Faculty have been entrusted by Government with the leadership of United Kingdom delegations to international conferences Professor Graveson led the United Kingdom delegation to the Eleventh Session of the Hague Conference of Private International Law at which he was Chairman of the First Commission dealing with the Convention on the Recognition of Divorce and Legal Separation He was General Reporter on the public law aspects of European law at the Conference of Deans of European Law Faculties organised by the Council of Europe As United Kingdom delegate at the Committee of Specialists on Comparative Law of the Council of Europe he par- ticipated in meetings at Paris and Strasbourg He acted as Chairman of the group of consultant jurists invited by the Council of Europe to examine and report on the feasibility of European Law Commission which met in Paris Rome and Edinburgh during the session As member of the curatorium of the Faculty of Law of the International University of Luxembourg the Editorial Committee of the Inter- national Encyclopaedia of Comparative Law the Executive Committee of the International Social Science Council and the International Committee of Comparative Law he also attended meetings of these respective bodies in Luxembourg Hamburg Paris and Copenhagen At the end of the session Professor Graveson presided at colloquium sponsored by the Council of Europe on Reparation for Non-Material Damage which was held in College from July 21st to 25th 1969 He retired from the Senate of the University after eleven years' ser- vice but was reappointed to the Management Committees of the Courtauld Institute and the British Institute in Paris
