1 Annual Report of the Delegacy attended class in surveying in Sussex and on techniques of field obser- vation in Devon An intercollegiate class in biogeography was held in Norway Students continued to assist with staff research projects The increasing emphasis on applied statistics continued and additional calculating equipment was acquired Staff and students continued to make increasing use of available computer facilities Professor Pugh was External Examiner in Geography for the Uni- versities of Liverpool and Wales in Maritime Studies for the Uni- versity of Wales Institute of Science and Technology and in Nautical Studies for the Regional College of Technology at Liverpool Dr Ε Yates lectured in Berlin Warsaw and Innsbruck With Mr Morgan he conducted field class for External students at the Univer- sity of Keele Miss Alice Coleman lectured on the General Land Use Model in number of university departments of geography and of planning on both sides of the Atlantic and in training colleges and branches of the Geographical Association in this country The data- collection phase of the Second Land Utilisation Survey directed by Miss Coleman was completed and the analytical phase is developing As by-product of the Survey it is hoped to produce Vegetation Atlas of England and Wales in conjunction with the Nature Conservancy Dr Morgan was External Examiner for the Ed degree of the University of Wales and Chief Examiner at the for the Uni- versity of Oxford Dr Embleton lectured to the Westminster branch of the Geographical Association and at Kingston College of Tech- nology He attended the twenty-third international Geological Con- gress in Prague and the Quaternary Field Study Group meeting in Iceland He read paper on 'Planation Surfaces in Britain' at the twenty-first international Geographical Union Symposium on Erosion Surfaces at Ranchi and was appointed member of the Com- mission for the investigation of present-day geomorphological pro- cesses Dr Rose continued to serve on number of committees and councils concerned with conservation and resources Dr Brunsden acted as Honorary Conference Organiser for the annual conference of the Geographical Association attended by 200 members and was member of the Association's Executive Committee and Council He was member of the Executive Committee of the British Geomorpho- logical Research Group and led field meeting on the Dorset coast He was also member of Natural Environment Research Council working party on the design and calibration of sediment towers and designed new slope indicator Dr Morley read paper on 'The
