Annual Report of the Delegacy xxi Professor Α Η Arnold Professor Arnold joined the staff of the Electrical Engineering Department in 1955 as Reader He came to the College after distinguished career in industry and was promoted Professor in 1959 During his time with us he has brought to the Faculty of Engineering in general and the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering in particular wide knowledge of industrial practice His contacts have been of the greatest use and both his colleagues and his students have found his assistance and advice of the greatest value He has served on several committees of the Professorial Board and in thanking him for his services the Delegacy extend their very best wishes for his retirement Professor Dawes Professor Dawes joined the staff of the Zoology Department in 1930 almost forty years ago He came as Assistant Lecturer and was promoted Lecturer in 1935 and Reader in 1946 In 1962 he was appointed Professor of Parasitology in the Department of Zoology During the many years he has been at College Professor Dawes has done much to extend the horizons of his subject The author of an important textbook he has travelled widely and is well known abroad as well as at home as an expert on his subject north countryman of genial disposition he has played his full part in the deliberations of the Department and of the Professorial Board and has always proved most helpful mentor to the generations of students whom he has served The Delegacy wish to place on record their appreciation of his services and to wish him many years of happy retirement Mr Edwards In 1921 Mr Edwards took First Class in Mathematics at the University of Wales After taking his Sc at the same University he became research student at Emmanuel College Cambridge and thereafter spent some time in Zurich and in Rome An accomplished linguist with strong preference for the language of his Principality Mr Edwards joined the staff of King's College as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics in 1927 After extremely useful service during the dispersal of the College from 1939 to 1945 he was appointed Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Science in 1946 and has retained that post with the greatest distinction until this year when he retires under the age limit
