χ Annual Report of the Council staff and students that the twenty-first year should be remembered for its strong finish Tribute has been paid earlier to the unique ministry of the Warden the Reverend Canon Townroe The Council in July expressed its deep appreciation of the work of the Sub-Warden the Reverend Colin Davey of the Chaplain the Reverend Robert Lewis of the Matron Miss Hilda Fitch of the gardener Mr Stanley Edwards who had been most devoted servant of the College for the whole period of our tenure and of all other members of the domestic staff The Council also expressed again its indebtedness to the Council of St Boniface College our landlords and friends for whom our coming in 1948 had been restoration of hope and for whom our going in 1969 could not have been other than profound disappointment With characteristic generosity they eased our disengagement from obliga- tions under lease and there is cause for satisfaction that the buildings and grounds will continue to be used in the pursuit of education by the new tenants Lord Weymouth's Grammar School Whatever feelings of regret there may be at this ending of an asso- ciation which has deepened and strengthened the lives of more than thousand ordinands nothing but gratitude and thanksgiving is appro- priate The last event of the year was Sung Eucharist in the Parish Church at which the celebrant and preacher was the Bishop of Salisbury with the congregation comprising great number of both old and present King's students of St Boniface On Trinity Sunday 1969 37 men were made deacon and 37 were ordained priest further were made deacon and priest at Michael- mas CANTERBURY The Committee under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Hertford continued its work of arranging leases with the Corporate Body of St Augustine's College Canterbury The Council set up committee of management to be known as the 'Canterbury Committee' with the following membership The Dean of King's College The Treasurer of King's College The Warden of King's College at St Augustine's Two Fellows of the Corporate Body of St Augustine's to be nomi- nated by that body
