iv Animal Report of the Council In thanking the Reverend Canon Townroe for his long and in- fluential service first as Chaplain and then as the second Warden of the fourth-year College at St Boniface College Warminster the Council directed that its appreciation be recorded in the following minute THE REVEREND CANON TOWNROE The Council of King's College wishes to record its appreciation of the unique and distinguished service of the Reverend Canon Townroe During period of twenty-one years first as Chaplain and for fourteen years as Warden Canon Townroe has been personal influence on the lives of just over one thousand ordinands during the crucial final year of their training before ordination Not only has the course been imaginatively planned and effectively administered it has also been changed in content and method to meet the changing times and needs The quality of the community life has been major force in enabling men to come to terms with themselves in relation to each other within the context of group orientated towards ordained ministry at time of not inconsiderable theological and pastoral uncertainty within the Church By his remarkable gift of insight into the inner state and needs of individuals as well as by his own example and teaching on prayer and personal growth in grace Canon Townroe has enabled this significant number of ordinands to go forward to ordination strength- ened for the demands of the future by deepened theological under- standing personal faith and prayer and pastoral confidence Not only the Council but the Church of England itself and this large group of priests have continuing cause to give thanks to God for the ministry of Canon Townroe in the service of King's College at St Boniface College Warminster On her retirement as Tutor to Women Theological Students since 1954 the Council recorded as follows its gratitude for her most devoted and effective service MISS EDWARDS In taking leave of Miss Margaret Edwards Tutor to Women Theolo- gical Students since 1954 the Council wishes to minute its appreciative awareness of her remarkable influence as teacher tutor pastor and friend graduate both of University College and of King's College London she took up her present work after considerable experience as
