Annual Report of the Delegacy lxxix Medicine series and to student scientific societies at Leicester Queen Elizabeth College and University College Dr Elliott read paper which he had written in conjunction with Dr Lowy on the Structure of Paramyosin to the British Biophysical Society meeting in London in December The commercial version of the X-ray diffraction camera which Dr Elliott developed here some years ago was shown at the Physical Society Exhibition this year in London Dr Fuller was appointed Assistant Director Administration of the Biophysics Laboratories He was an invited speaker at symposium on 'Transfer Ribonucleic Acid Structure and Function' in New York in June While in the United States he gave seminar at Vanderbilt University and visited the Institute for Cancer Research in Philadelphia and the Medical Department of Brookhaven National Laboratory Dr Fuller also lectured on 'Nucleic acid structure' in the Biology Department at Sussex University and on 'Matter life and mind' at Moor Park College Dr Arnott was appointed Associate Lecturer in Biology at Brunei University He was also appointed Honorary Lecturer in Biophysics with special responsibility for postgraduate training In April he lectured on RNA structure and function at the Department of My- cology Gif-sur-Yvette France and also at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island New York Dr Elliott was speaker at the British Biophysical Society meeting on Muscular Contraction in December Dr Gratzer was Visiting Professor at the Department of Biochemistry Columbia University Medical School from February to March 1968 Dr Jacobs and Miss Anne McVittie contributed to the Royal Society's discussion meeting on Cytoplasmic Organelles in June Dr Lowy was Visiting Scholar at the New York State University in January and lectured at the Brooklyn Downstate Medical Center and in Albany and Stony Brook Dr Pelc gave lectures on 'Turnover of DNA and gene expres- sion' at Yale University Cornell University University of Chicago and University of California and on Soluble compound autoradio- graphy' at the University of Chicago Mr Caswill left the department to take up an administrative post at Sussex University Dr Burrin joined the Unit staff in the laboratory
