Annual Report of the Delegacy lix LL Τ Adcsalu Adeyemi Afolabi Ahmed Alukoya Asiedu Chand Margaret Demerieux Ebohon Farouk Fiadjoe Gambari Halstead Harris Khan Leigh-Hunt Mian Moore Υ Nizami Obi Odebala Quadri Shyllon Academic Postgraduate Diploma Ε Μ Abdel Brahim Abdolbaghi A-l Alobustami Hassan Faculty Notes The session fell within Human Rights Year and this period designated by the United Nations and the Council of Europe was commemorated by the Faculty in course of Public Lectures and seminar organised under the auspices of Professor Μ Bathurst The lectures are listed on cii In addition Mr John Freeland Legal Counsellor at the Foreign Office conducted special seminar on 'Human Rights in International Law' The course was regarded by the Council of Europe as an outstanding academic contribution to Human Rights Year The session was one of development of projects already begun and pursued under the physical difficulties referred to in the report for 1966-67 The Intermediate and Final LL degree was replanned and the new scheme approved for those entering in October 1968 Discus- sions of methods of teaching the new course were initiated and work- ing papers produced In particular it has been possible to strengthen greatly the teaching of international law by the appointment as from October 1968 of Sir Francis Vallat at present Legal Adviser at the Foreign Office The Faculty Society took new initiatives in two respects It organised freshers' week-end at Ramsgate at the beginning of the session which was very useful not only as social event but in enabling new students to be informed of different aspects of law and legal careers secondly the Society undertook an enquiry into the equipment and operation of the Laws Library which drew attention to several possibilities of improvement The study week-ends at Cumberland Lodge the Moot- ing Competition and the Annual Celebrity Lecturer took place as in previous years Professor Graveson represented the United Kingdom at the Special Commission on the Law of Torts of the Hague Conference of Private International Law April-May and continued as member of
