Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes 195 Zoological Department Its object is to encourage the prosecution of original research in Zoology The Studentship is of the value of £5צ year and will be offered every other year In addition all fees except the usual registration fee will be remitted The Studentship will be awarded upon the recommendation of the Professor of Zoology Preference will be given to student who has graduated with Honours from the College The Studentship is normally tenable for two years but may be renewed in exceptional circumstances for third year The Student must work in the Department of Zoology of King's College under the direction of the Professor or in such other zoological laboratory as the Professor may direct The Student must not without the consent of the Delegacy upon the recom- mendation of the Professor of Zoology undertake any other work In no case will permission be granted to the Student to hold any appointment or appoint- ments that will occupy more than ten hours week The subject of research must be approved by the Professor of Zoology of King's College In any publication of results obtained during the tenure of the Studentship it shall be stated that the author is or was Harold Row Research Student of King's College BERRIDGE STUDENTSHIPS The Studentships were founded in 1925 on the occasion of the closing of the Bacteriology and Public Health Department and to commemorate the fact that this Department founded in 1898 by Professor Ε Crookshank was the first Academic Department of Public Health in this country The funds are provided partly from the Berridge Estate and Trust Endow- ment and partly from the Devignes Legacy the balance being met from general College funds One Studentship is offered annually for research in Physiology as apphed to public health The value of each Studentship is £100 year Appointments to the Studentship will be made by the Delegacy on the recommendation of the Principal after receiving reports from the Professors of Anatomy and Physiology Applications must reach the Registrar of the College not later than June 30th and must be accompanied by statement giving the plan of work candidates intend to pursue and showing details of the amount of time they are prepared
