Faculties and Courses of Study H3 by the Graduate Teacher Training Registry obtainable in the Faculty of Education Office This should be submitted as early as possible in the Michaelmas term and not later than 1st December for women and jist December for men before the autumn in which the course is to be begun In special circumstances applications received later than this could be considered Selected candidates will be interviewed during the session which precedes the beginning of the course The register of acceptances for the session is normally complete by the beginning of March ADVANCED STUDY OF EDUCATION Courses in preparation for the Academic Diploma and the Phil and Ph degrees in Education These are run in association with the University of London Institute of Education The course of study for the Academic Diploma extends over not less than one academic year for full-time students and not less than two academic years for part-time students All students must attend course on the General Theory of Education and courses in two of the following subjects The Philosophy of Education Comparative Educa- tion History of Education Educational Psychology Educational Sociology Educational Organization and Administration Theory and Practice of Teaching For the degree in Education by written examination and dis- sertation an approved course of study in one selected area is necessary taking at least one year of full-time study two years of part-time study The Phil degree is awarded by examination on thesis submitted after period of supervised study of not less than two years All candi- dates for the and Phil must first take the Academic Diploma examination as qualifying examination Higher degrees of the Uni- versity of London are open only to holders of an approved first degree Intending students should first consult the regulations of the Uni- versity and then seek an interview with the Dean of the Faculty In the case of applications for entry in October these interviews are most conveniently arranged during the latter part of the previous session The course for the Ph can be begun in any term of the session Those who desire to pursue their studies in Education on the psycho- logical side are advised to apply for registration in the first instance to the University of London Institute of Education Malet Street WC1
