General Information 95 students or members of the staff college news and news of members Details of Commemoration Week and other functions in College which are open to the Association are also circularised Further information may be obtained from the Registrar's Office King's College Strand WC2 University of London Facilities The following facilities provided by the University of London are also available to students of the College University of London Appointments Board 49 Gordon Square WC1 Telephone 01-387 7489 Secretary Ε Η Dibden sc The University of London Appointments Board is the official agency set up by the Senate for the purpose of providing careers advisory and appointments service for the benefit of men and women students and graduates of the Uni- versity King's College is represented on this body by Mr Edwards the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mr Davies the Registrar The specialist officers of the Board are in constant touch with wide range of employers in both technical and non-technical fields They can therefore give advice and active help to those interested for example in careers in the administrative scientific and other grades of the Civil Service commerce industry teaching and other professions Local Government the Police Service Services research organisations and the social services The officers are available at the Appointments Board to see students by appointment both during term and in vacations For the special benefit of students of King's College scheme has been intro- duced whereby officers of the Board visit the College to give careers advice Full details of the arrangements may be obtained from the Registrar's office at the College The University Library see page 158 University Union On August 1st 1952 the University of London Union established in 1921 and the University of London Athletic Union established 1906 became one body under the title University of London Union The amalgamation was brought about to simplify the organisation of the student body The Union provides for social cultural and athletic activities of Univer- sity of London students at university level supplementing the facilities pro- vided in the college union societies It fields representative teams in various branches of sport and awards the University of London 'Purple' the Union
