5 General Information The Union Society 1968-69 Patron The Principal of King's College Hon Treasurer The Secretary of King's College Hon Asst Treasurer Professor Kiralfy ll ph President Vanstone Theology Deputy President Farey Theology Lady Vice-President Daryl Atkinson-Scott Laws Vice-President for External Affairs Price Laws Hon Secretary Gant Theology Athletics Vice-President Affleck Theology Hon Chesham Secretary Ford Engineering Note The officers are elected for the period from the beginning of the Easter vacation to the end of the next Lent term The elected officers are the President the Deputy President the lady Vice-President the Secretary the Chesham Secretary the Athletics Vice-President and the External Affairs Vice-President The Treasurer and the Assistant Treasurer who are also Union officers are always members of the academic staff The objects of the Union Society are to promote social activities among its members to support student clubs and societies to provide means of recreation and to further the interests of students generally Every registered student of the College is member and is entitled to membership of all College clubs and societies the use of the Chesham and the athletic ground and pavilion and the right to vote at all general meetings and elections Membership of the Society is also open to members of the academic staff Permission from the Principal is necessary before forming any society and the rules must be submitted to him for approval Control of students' clubs and societies is vested in the Union Society General Information The affairs of the Society are governed by an Executive Committee which is elected annually and consists principally of seven Union
