lxviii Annual Report of the Delegacy assumed the responsibilities of Honorary Editor of the Imstitute of British Geographers and gave lectures at Liverpool Baingor and Swansea Dr Brunsden served as convenor and editor to the Technical Publications sub-committee of the British Geomorphologicall Research Group and as Assistant Conference Organiser for the Geographical Association He also gave guest lecture at the University of Durham Mr Lawrence was one of the delegates to the second Technical Symposium of the International Cartographic Association in Amsterdam and Delft in April With Dr Morley and Dr Ε Yates he was responsible for field classes arranged for External students of the University and with Dr Morley assislted in course on Field Work in the London area given at the Institute of Education The Joint School branch of the Geographical Associatiom held in April its annual one-day conference for geography students firom sixth forms in the London area and was attended by some 800 delegates The lectures and discussions were on the theme of Geography and Planning Following the circulation of questionnaire by the Geo- graphical Association Committee to Joint School members there were regular meetings between the Committee and group of staff members to discuss the organisation of courses within the Joint Schocel These discussions were useful in clarifying ideas on both sides and ledl to some improvements in course structure and content DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY Number of Students Sc General Ancillary Geology Registered at 23 Subsidiary Geology Registered at Registered at Sc Special Geology 22 Sc Engineering 45 Sc Engineering Research 12 Total 121
