Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes 211 IX Available in the Faculty of Education THOMAS WALL PRIZES These Prizes were founded in 1930 by the Thomas Wall Trust Each Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £2 One Prize is open to men students and the other to women students in the Department of Education The Prizes will be awarded annually on the result of special test in reading and recitation In making the award the manner in which candidates have used their voices during their teaching practice will also be taken into account JOHN WILLIAM ADAMSON PRIZE The Prize in memory of John William Adamson Professor of Education from 1903 to 1924 was founded by members of his family The Prize consists either of books or of grant to meet the expenses of research in education to the value of about £10 The Prize will be awarded annually to the student who in the opinion of the Principal and the Head of the Department of Education shall have most distinguished himself in the practice and theory of teaching BLACKWELL PRIZE FOR TEACHING This award was founded in 1964 by friends and former pupils in memory of Mrs Blackwell member of the Department of Education from January 1936 and Director of Postgraduate Training from 1962 until her death on 29th September 1963 The Prize will be awarded annually to the student of the Department of Education who in the opinion of the Principal and the Head of the Department has shown most promise in the practice of teaching In circumstances of equal merit the prize may be divided The Prize of the value of approximately £15 may be taken in the form of books or money provided that the award shall include one book fully bound and stamped with the College arms
