Library Facilities 163 varying from fortnight to four months Students may normally have six volumes on loan at one time WESTMINSTER CITY LIBRARIES As King's College lies within the City of Westminster students enjoy the privilege of using the Westminster City Libraries To take advantage of this facility the student must complete an application form obtainable from any public library in Westminster and get it countersigned by recognised officer of the College The nearest public library to King's is the district library at Charing Cross Road WC2 Reference libraries which may be used by any member of the public without formality are situated at St Martin's Street WC2 Marylebone Road NW1 and Porchester Road W2 There are special collections of works in modern foreign languages at the branch at South Audley Street Wi in medicine at the public library at Marylebone Road NW1 and in music at the central music library in Buckingham Palace Road SW1 Collections of gramophone records including language records are available for home playing from the libraries at Charing Cross Road WC2 and Marylebone Road NW1 OTHER PUBLIC LIBRARIES Most other London boroughs have good reference libraries which are open to all members of the public and students may of course apply to join and borrow from the public library serving the area in which they live or lodge VACATION USE OF OTHER UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES Arrangements can usually be made for students to use university libraries near their homes in vacation Application for such facilities should be made to the Librarian of King's College
