Faculties and Courses of Study 125 sc degree courses specialising in one subject For entry to the following specialist courses candidates will normally be required to have passed at Advanced Level in General Certificate of Education examination or an examination of equivalent standard in the subjects indicated below Mathematics Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics and another science subject preferably Physics Candidates selected for interview will be given an oral test Physics Physics Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics together with Chemistry at either Advanced or Ordinary level or ii Physics Chemistry Pure Mathematics together with Applied Mathematics at either Advanced or Ordinary Level or iii Physics Chemistry Mathematics Pure and Applied Chemistry Chemistry Physics and in one or other of Pure Mathematics Mathematics Pure and Applied Mathematics for Science or one of the examinations in Modern Mathematics Those having Pure Mathematics only are advised that some knowledge of Applied Mathematics in particular of Dynamics is necessary to extract full benefit from the courses provided Geology Any three science subjects included in the list for entry to the broad-based degree of Sc Geography Geography and any two other science subjects included in the list for entry to the broad-based degree of Sc Botany Botany or Biology Chemistry and one of Mathematics or Physics or Zoology Zoology may not be taken with Biology Pharmacology Chemistry and two others chosen from Biology or Zoology or Botany Physics and Pure-and-Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics Physiology Chemistry and two others chosen from Biology or Zoology or Botany Physics and Pure-and-Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics Zoology Candidates are advised to offer Physics Chemistry and either Zoology or Biology they may also be required to take an entrance test All candidates selected for this test will be notified by the Sub-Dean or the Tutor to Women Students of the day and time when they should attend Biology Chemistry and normally two others chosen from Biology or Zoology or Botany Physics and Pure-and-Applied Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics
