Faculties and Courses of Study 115 Postgraduate Courses HIGHER DEGREES AND DIPLOMAS LL candidate may obtain the LL degree by passing at one and the same examination in any of four specified subjects The duration of the course of study is normally two years but candidate for this degree who is graduate in Laws and has obtained first class honours or second class honours upper division may present himself for examination after following an approved course of study for at least one year Internal and external graduates of the University of London and graduates of other universities may be admitted to the course Intend- ing candidates should consult the University Regulations in the Faculty of Laws for Internal Students which can be obtained from the Academic Registrar University of London Senate House London Applications must be made to the Faculty of Laws before 15 July in the year of entry PHIL PH AND LL Intending candidates should refer to the University Regulations as above and consult the Dean of the Faculty candidate for registration for Phil or Ph degrees in Laws must have previously obtained the LL degree with first or upper second class honours or the LL degree of the University of London or an equivalent degree of another university The minimum period of study is two years In the case of the LL degree candidate must have previously obtained the LL Phil or the Ph degree in the Faculty of Laws as an internal student In exceptional circumstances candi- date who has obtained the LL degree as an internal student may be exempted from this requirement on the ground of published work Candidates must submit published papers or books constituting an original contribution to the advancement of legal knowledge ACADEMIC POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW The University grants an Academic Postgraduate Diploma in Law to graduates of London and other approved universities who have attended
