lxxxviii Annual Report of the Delegacy Higher Degrees Ph Cordingley 'The effect of chemical substances on the reticulo-endothelial system Ph Quantock 'The effect of various hormones on local and general body defence Departmental Notes Professor Nicol read papers at the meetings of the Reticulo- endothelial Society at Salt Lake City and the international symposium on Atherosclerosis and Reticulo-endothelial System at Como he also visited research laboratories in San Francisco Los Angeles and the Bahamas He continued to lecture on Applied Anatomy at the Royal National Throat Hospital and St George's Hospital Dr Μ McMinn was reappointed examiner in Anatomy by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the Licence in Dental Surgery and was appointed Examiner in Physiology for the Society of Chiropodists He was elected Programme Secretary of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland He is studying the cytology of tissue repair with special reference to the tympanic membrane and the gastrointestinal tract He was an invited speaker at the Charter Cen- tenary meeting of the Royal Microscopical Society in London in July and at the third World Congress of Gastroenterology in Tokyo in September and subsequently lectured in the universities of Hong Kong Rangoon Singapore and Teheran Dr Charles lectured to the Postgraduate Primary Fellowship course for Anaesthetists at the Royal Victoria Hospital East Grinstead and lectured and examined at the Chelsea School of Chiropody and St Mary's College Strawberry Hill Dr Cordingley read papers at two meetings of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland and at the international sym- posium on Atherosclerosis and Reticulo-endothelial System at Como He instituted clinical trials with the co-operation of Professor Exton- Smith at the Whittington Hospital Highgate in connection with re- ticulo-endothelial stimulation As in previous years he lectured to the physiotherapy students at King's College Hospital the Prince of Wales School of Physiotherapy and Nonnington College of Physical Educa- tion Dr Vernon-Roberts and Dr Quantock read papers at the meeting of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland held at
