lxxviii Annual Report of the Delegacy Dr Lowy also attended the second international Congress in Bio- physics in Vienna in September In April he visited the Department of Bacteriology University of California Los Angeles where he worked in collaboration with Dr Martinez and gave series of seminars Dr Brown gave talk on 'Active sites in ribonucleic acids' at the Symposium on the Structure of Genetic Elements at the third inter- national meeting of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies in Warsaw in April 1966 Dr Gratzer lectured at the Centre de Recherches sur les Macromolecules Strasbourg in April 1966 and participated in the Royal Society Discussion on Circular Dichroism' and the meeting on the Macromolecular Structure at Ravello Italy in March 1966 Dr Arnott and Dr Wonacott gave talk at the British Bio- physical Society meeting in December 1965 on 'Automatic refinement of crystalline structures of fibrous molecules' Dr Arnott gave the following lectures Structure of RNA and its role in protein synthesis' to Queen Mary College Physical Society and also to the Departments of Chemistry Molecular Biology and Zoology at Edinburgh Uni- versity and the Department of Chemistry Glasgow University 'The refinement of polymer structures' at the Polymer Physics conference at the Royal Military College of Science Shrivenham and 'Least- squares refinement with stereochemical constraints' to the X-ray Analysis group of the Institute of Physics He visited the Institute of Nuclear Studies Belgrade Yugoslavia and spent three months in the autumn of 1966 at the University of Illinois in Professor Black's laboratory investigating the isolation of RNA from the wound tumour virus Dr Elliott read paper on current X-ray-diffraction work on muscle contraction at the seventh international Crystallography Con- gress in Moscow in July 1966 He also gave paper on this work at the meeting of the British Biophysical Society in December 1965 Dr Fuller gave seminar on nucleic-acid drug interactions in Munich in December 1965 Also in December he organised an exhibi- tion of molecular models at the British Biophysical Society's winter meeting and read paper at this meeting In 1966 he gave lectures on the genetic code at Haileybury School and at the Northern Polytechnic In April 1966 he contributed to symposium on the Structure of the Genetic Elements at the third international meeting of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies in Warsaw and in July 1966 he read
