Annual Report of the Delegacy xlvii Oration delivered by Sir Hugh Greene on 'The BBC To-day' In the Commemoration Games we were once again beaten by University College The cultural note was given to the celebrations by the Drama Society's performance of Tennessee Williams's Camino Real and the Music Society's performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No 24 and Kodaly's Missa Brevis The Coming-up Ball with the Ivy League was much enjoyed as was the Wellington Ball at the end of the Lent term The standard of the entries to the One-Act Play Festival was high though the same could not be said of the size of the audience The Music Society accepted challenge and in the Lent term produced Mozart's Magic Flute 'Mitcham Day' was changed from an afternoon athletic meeting to an evening meeting in an endeavour to increase interest and was followed by hop' in the pavilion during the evening Though the hop' was success the athletic meeting itself was typical of those of the last few years with only handful of competitors on the field The Principal's Cup was won by the Faculty of Theology II REPORTS OF DEPARTMENTS FACULTY OF ARTS DEPARTMENT OF CLASSICS Number of Students General and Subsidiary Latin 26 Subsidiary Greek Honours 43 Postgraduate Total 83 First Degrees Honours Classics 2nd Class Upper Division 2nd Class Lower Division 3rd Class Honours Latin 2nd Class Lower Division For distinctions and appointments gained by staff and students see pp xxvii-xxxvi
