166 Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes No student may obtain either of these Prizes second time but Junioi Prizeman may compete for the Senior Prize subsequently if otherwise qualified The examination for the Senior Prize will be held at the end of the Lent term There will be two papers comprising translation and annotation of passages from the Hebrew canonical books and Old Testament together with Hebrew composition The examiners will be the Professor of Old Testament Studies together with an internal examiner and an external assessor to be appointed by the Theological Professorial Board The Junior Prize will be awarded on the result of the Ill paper in the fmal examination for the Honours degree CALDECOTT PHILOSOPHY PRIZE fund was raised in 1918 by the friends colleagues and pupils of the Rev Prebendary Alfred Caldecott on his retirement from the oifice of Dean to commemorate his great services to King's College during the previous 26 years and on his request was devoted to the foundation of Prize in Philo- sophy The Prize which is of the value of Ā£35 is offered once in every two years It is for an English essay on some subject falling within the scope of the Philo- sophy or of the Psychology of Religion The College may assign subject for the essay or it may invite qualified graduates or Associates to submit subjects upon which they may desire to work The Prize is open to all graduates and Associates of the College who have studied in the College for not less than two sessions and are not of more than six years' standing since taking their degree or Associateship in the College The adjudicators on each occasion shall be three and shall be appointed by the Council from Professors or Lecturers in Philosophy of Religion or in the Departments of Philosophy and Psychology together with another person not member of the College staff at the time of his appointment The adjudicators may recommend that the successful essay be printed as the Caldecott Prize essay but the printing shall not be obligatory on the writer The Prize shall include at least one book fully bound and stamped with the College Arms and the Prizeman may if he so desire have books to the full value of the Prize so bound and stamped If the Prize be not gained so often as once in every three years any interest on the fund shall not accumulate but shall be added to the capital sum for the increase of the value of the Prize The next offer will be made in the Lent term 1969 Essays must be sent to the Registrar of the College not later than the second Wednesday of the preceding December
