Faculties and Courses of Study 127 Lecturers Burtt sc tech Manchester ph liver- pool ceng Ε Freeman sc eng ph london Hawken sc eng london Lindsay sc eng ph london ceng inst Special Lecturer Douglas Needham sc econ london ph princeton The Faculty provides systematic courses of study in engineering suitable for students preparing for internal degrees of the University of London and for postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering Electronics Internal Combustion Engineering Powder Technology and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning leading to either College Diploma or the degree of Sc Undergraduate Courses ADMISSION OF STUDENTS Details of the procedure to be followed by students seeking admission to undergraduate courses are given on page 69 Applicants are admitted by the Sub-Dean of the Faculty or in the case of women applicants by the Tutor to Women Students on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty and as advised by Heads of Departments or their representatives COURSES FOR SC ENG DEGREE Three-year courses of instruction in Civil Mechanical and Electrical Engineering are offered to undergraduates in the Faculty of Engineering The first year of the course is taken in common by the three sections and during the second and third years the courses become increasingly specialised In the third year students are required to undertake an individual experimental analytical or design problem The degree examination is taken in three sections Part Part II and Part III For more detailed information the separate prospectus for the Faculty of Engineering should be consulted
