lxxii Annual Report of the Delegacy symposium on Principles of Biomolecular Organization In July he attended the conference on Fundamentals of Human Brain Structure and Function at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in Septem- ber symposium in Naples organised by the Commission on Mole- cular Biophysics of the International Organization for Pure and Applied Biophysics Dr Elliott gave the following lectures 'Physical instruments in biophysical research' at the Physical Society's annual exhibition Manchester in April and 'Infra-red spectroscopy of polymers' at the symposium on Modern Techniques of Polymer Characterisation held in Cardiff in June Dr Fuller gave two lectures on Molecular Biology at the Borough Polytechnic London Dr Gratzer attended the Vienna conference organised by the Federation of European Biochemical Societies in April Dr Brown gave paper at this conference Dr Tooze was awarded Wellcome Research Fellowship for 1965-66 which he will spend at Harvard University as Research Fellow in Biology In January he gave lecture on fine structural changes occurring during maturation of amphibian erythrocytes at meeting of the British Biophysical Society symposium on Mor- phogenesis and Differentiation in relation to Cellular Fine Structure at Imperial College Dr Pelc took part in the symposium on Autoradiography in Montreal in September 1964 organised by the International Society for Cell Biology He also organised course on Autoradiography at Wantage Research Laboratories of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority He gave one lecture on electron microscopy autoradiography to the medical postgraduate series of lectures at the Royal College of Surgeons Dr Arnott gave lecture to the Chemistry and Biology depart- ment at the University of Newcastle in October entitled 'Nucleic acid structure' He addressed general meeting of the Tees-side branches of the Royal Institute of Chemistry the Chemical Society and the Society of Chemical Industry on the structure of DNA and RNA and in February he addressed the Edinburgh University Chemical and Zoological Societies on Nucleic Acid Structure and Protein Synthesis In September 1965 he gave paper at the Polymer Physics meeting at the Royal Military College of Science Shrivenham on 'The refine- ment of molecular structure in crystalline fibres
