Annual Report of the Delegacy lxiii Higher Degrees Felsenstein Public opinion and the reform of secondary education 1888-1902 as reflected in Parliament and the Press Η Andrews 'Elementary education in the Lewisham district at the time of the School Board for London 1870-1903 Departmental Notes The consideration of those parts of the Robbins recommendations which relate to Schools of Education continued throughout the session involving members of the department including Mrs Wakeford Miss Parish and Dr Β Dawson in substantial amount of committee work in respect of the devising of new degree in Educa- tion and the planning of an enlarged field of operations for King's College under the expected new conditions of teaching Professor Bealcs is member of the University's Joint Committee for the Ed degree The expansion of the number of full-time staff now in progress is related to plans for the department's withdrawal from the current intercollegiate teaching arrangements with the Central College of the Institute of Education at the level of professional training Although Mrs Murray was reported in 1964 as having taken final leave of the department she was in fact welcomed back for further spell of part-time duty in the supervision of school practice Her death on January ist 1965 found her still in harness At the end of the session Professor Judges head of the depart- ment since 1949 and Mr Brown Senior Lecturer and member of the staff since 1936 retired at the conclusion of their contracts of service see pp xx and xxi Professor Beales who now succeeds to the headship of the depart- ment lectured at Jordanhill College St Mary's College Strawberry Hill Digby Stuart College Coloma College and St Edmund's Ware Dr King completed his work in India under the auspices of the British Council and lectured as visiting professor at the International Christian University at Tokyo He visited Austria at Easter as leader of comparative education study course and read paper in June at the Berlin Conference of the Comparative Education Society He acted as consultant to the Council of Europe on school-leavers and technical education
