Ivi Annual Report of the Delegacy Departmental Notes In November 1964 Professor Jones gave talk subsequently printed entitled 'Lope de Vega Shakespeare afinidades diver- gencias' on the Spanish Service of the BBC as part of series by British and Spanish scholars In August 1965 he read paper entitled 'Elperro del hortelano la vision comica de Lope' at the second inter- national Congress of Hispanists at Nijmegen Mrs Jean Franco gave lecture in February 1965 on 'Cultural currents in Latin America' as part of series on Latin America organised by the University of London Extra-Mural Department She gave lecture in March at Canning House the Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Council on 'Contemporary trends in Spanish American literature' In April she helped to organise and took the chair at round table conference on the Spanish American novel proceedings of which appeared in the Information Bulletin of the Society for Latin American Studies July 1965 In November 1964 she contributed talk on Latin American culture to the Overseas Service series on Latin America She also gave course of twenty lectures at Queen Mary College during the session Mr Sage spent the semester beginning January 1965 at the University of Pittsburgh as visiting Assistant Professor He delivered public lectures at Indiana University and elsewhere In March students of the Department gave three performances of Garcia Lorca's La zapatera prodigiosa DEPARTMENT OF WAR STUDIES There were twelve postgraduate students in the department Higher Degree Ph Sandler 'The emergence of the modern British capital ship Departmental Notes Professor Μ Howard delivered the first Alanbrooke Memorial Lecture for the Honourable Artillery Company Mr Mendl taught two sessional classes on Contemporary Europe for the Tutorial Classes Committee He delivered lecture on French Strategy to officers of the Royal Air Force for the Delegacy for Extra-Mural Studies University of Oxford
