UNIVERSITY OF LONDON KING'S COLLEGE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DELEGACY FOR THE SESSION 1964-65 Presented to the Court and the Senate of the University of London GENERAL REPORT membership of the delegacy The following new appointments to the Delegacy were made by the Senate in the course of the session Sir Beresford Clark the Hon David Smith and nominated by the Surrey County Council in place of Sir Cyril Black Mr Wdton Professor Winnington-Ingram was nominated by the Professorial Board in place of Professor Norman The Hon Sir Arthur Howard was re-elected Chair- man and Sir Angus Gillan was re-elected Vice- Chairman and Treasurer changes in the staff Retirements The end of the session saw the retirement of four senior members of staff all of whom have given long and valuable service to the College The Delegacy wishes them all happiness in retirement and continuing fruitful activity in their various fields Professor Garmonsway has served thirty-five years in the Department of English Language and Literature Cambridge graduate and pupil of Professor Chadwick he came to King's from Aberystwyth in 1930 and soon made his mark by his knowledge of and skill in teaching Old English literature In addition he has done much to foster the development of Scandinavian studies in the University and always had small but enthusiastic band of students taking Anglo-Saxon Archaeology as Special Subject Several of his xix
