THE THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT of KING'S COLLEGE LONDON UNIVERSITY OF LONDON ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE SESSION 1964-65 presented to the COURT of the COLLEGE COUNCIL AND CORPORATION The Council has met three times in joint session with the Theological Committee The Council received the news of the death of three Fellows of the College on December 27th 1964 at the age of seventy-four of the Right Reverend Norman Shapley Bishop of the Windward Isles from 1949 to 1962 on March 5th 1965 of Canon Thomas James Kirkland Headmaster of King's School Ely from 1918 to 1941 and on June 28th 1965 of Prebendary Arthur James Godball Hawes Vicar of All Saints' Fulham from 1946 Sir Thomas Creed resigned from the Council and from the Finance Committee on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor and was warmly thanked by the Council for his many services over period of thirteen years The Council also received with regret the resignation of the Dean of Exeter the Very Reverend Marcus Knight who for reasons of distance had found it impossible to attend meetings The staff of the Theological Department elected the Reverend Reginald Trueman in place of the Reverend Professor Mascall whose term of office had expired Professor D'Silva Professor of Physiology was elected to membership of the Council and of the Finance Committee The Council gratefully acknowledged the substantial help given by the Delegacy towards the cost of the reconstruction of the College organ
