170 Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes The Studentships will be awarded on the results of the Honours examination of the University of London in English and History on the recommendations of the Heads of the Departments of English and History The student will be required to pursue full-time course of study at King's College for the degree or Ph degree in English or History respectively and to give some assistance in teaching in the Department of English or of History The Student will enter upon his Studentship in the session following that in which he has completed his course in accordance with University regulations Payment for the Studentship will be made in three equal instalments at the beginning of each term subject to the receipt at the end of each term of satisfactory certificate of attendance and progress from the Head of the Depart- ment in which the student is studying TUTORIAL STUDENTSHIPS for Regulations see page 155 Medals and Prizes Prizes in Arts open to all Full-time Students of the College CARTER MEDAL AND PRIZE FOR ENGLISH VERSE This Prize was founded in 1879 under the will of George Redsull Carter The Prize consists of medal and books to total value of Ā£10 The Prize is open to all full-time students of the College who have com- pleted one term and not exceeded nine terms The Prize will be awarded annually for an exercise in English original verse upon prescribed subject The exercise must not fall short of 42 nor exceed 150 lines and must be typewritten and distinguished by some motto The candidate should send his exercise to the Registrar before May 31st at the same time sending his name and motto under sealed cover in an envelope bearing the motto Subject for 1967 poem entitled Thoughts in the Strand' not necessarily serious thoughts of course
